Sanity Savers For Moms

I Am A Mom

My nerves and patience have been tested to the max.

I'm the grocery shopper, the bill payer, the boo-boo fixer, and the schedule & appointment setter.

I am the chef in charge of planning and preparing nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch & dinner that won't be immediately pushed away and labeled, "YUCKY!"

I am the chauffer back and fourth to pre-school, play dates, soccer, ballet, and other fun activities and outings to enrich their days.

I am the shopper for new shoes and outgrown clothes.
I am the hand they hold at the doctor when they get their shots, the leg they hide behind when they are nervous by a new place, and the back they ride on when they are too tired to walk another step.

I am the cheerleader, the referee, the judge, and the disciplinarian. I am the family photographer, vacation planner, birthday party planner, and historian.

I am the bad guy that has to say no to candy, endless TV marathons, and staying up for just a few more minutes.

I am a Mom who wakes up falling off the edge of the bed because someone sneaked in and stole my pillow and side of the bed during the night.

I am the bath giver, hair washer, and hair stylist. I am the teacher, the craft coordinator, and most of all I am the housekeeper.

My very few breaks (to talk on the phone, shower, or use the bathroom) are interrupted by requests. If I sit down for a minute, I am immediately bombarded by 2 girls and a dog all jumping on me wanting to be tickled, comforted, or rocked to sleep.

I am a Mom who is witness to so many firsts: first breaths, first smiles, first laughs, first steps, first words, first days of school, and the first time they proudly accomplish something new.

I am the one they call out, "Mommy Watch!" and "Mommy I did it!" to.

I'm the one they look at with total admiration and say, "Mommy, I WUV YOU!"

Yes once in a while I think back to when I used to be organized, used to be patient, used to have a good memory, and used to have a good nights sleep.

But not for a second do I ever wish to go back to my old life, before I was a Mom.
